Took the opportunity to visit Prego, an Italian Restaurant on Easter Sunday for their Smoothie Brunch Buffet. Must thanks a certain someone who decided to go on the high sea cruise that long weekend so I have a chance to try out the place. :D/> Also thanks to the person who graciously lend us the use of his FAR card.

The Prego Deli is located right beside the reception counter if you fancy any Italian gourmet or ingredients.

A peek of the dining area though I find some of the tables arrangement to be too close for comfort.

Assorted Italian Breads - Somehow most of us do not know how to appreciate these "hard as rock" loaves of breads. We are so used to soft white fluffy breads.

Carpaccio Di Manzo - A simple dish of thinly sliced beef in a dressing of extra virgin olive oil, fresh lemon juice and Parmesan flakes. Some causal diners might get turned off seeing the uncooked beef but it's actually very pleasant-tasting with none of the raw meat taste. A classic Italian dish at its best.

These Wine Holders are so cute and environmental friendly.

Our table was right next to the Cold Seafood Station. They are quite fast in replenishing the shellfishes.

Clams and Mussels - I only tried the clams which were clean tasting as if it's just from the ocean.

Fresh Oysters and it must be really fresh because the lady sitting beside us ate lots of it and I don't even smell it. Usually those stale oysters I can smell it a mile away.

http://forums.vr-zone.com/photopost/data/1212/medium/Prego041.jpg

Scallops - These are much bigger than what we had in Element and better tasting.

http://forums.vr-zone.com/photopost/data/1212/medium/Prego042.jpg

Chilled Prawns - Me do not want to get my hand dirty from the peeling as I am taking photographs even during eating but they do look very succulent and crunchy.

http://forums.vr-zone.com/photopost/data/1212/medium/Prego043.jpg

Vases big and small of flower arrangements are scattered throughout the restaurant lending to the already bright and cheery atmosphere.

Osso Bucco is Italian for "bone with a hole", a reference to the marrow hole at the center of the cross-cut veal shank. The braising liquid is usually a combination of white wine and meat broth flavoured with vegetables. Although this has no fats to talk about but it was easily one of the tenderest beef I have ever eaten, almost melt in your mouth. Just thinking about it now makes me salivate.

The Braised Beef Short Ribs has more fats to it and tender which was to be expected. Another yummy dish that day though my preference was still with the Osso Bucco.

Cod Baccala - My dining companion mentioned that this was the best tasting cod fish he had in a buffet. Googled and this is what I gotten below, seem like the Italian version of our salted fish. :D/>

Quote

BaccalĂ  is salt cod sold by the slab: An unlikely food to get excited over. Indeed, for much of its history nobody did; it was cheap and kept very well, which made it an ideal food for the poor, and for others too when Friday loomed and no fresh fish was available.

Duck Confit - OK, when I lifted up the cover, I thought diners have emptied the dish and left the cheap stuffs at the bottom, you know those cheap vegetables that they used to prop up the main ingredient. :D/> Seem like the Duck Confit here is shredded duck meat.

http://forums.vr-zone.com/photopost/data/1212/medium/Prego051.jpg

Sauteed Prawn - Crunchy large sized prawns drizzled in creamy sauce. Yum yum... At least these I don't have to peel them. :D/>

Nothing of fancy here, mainly vegetables prepared in varies cooking styles.

Prego Pizzeria - Here you find pasta, pizza and various roasted meats and poultry.

http://forums.vr-zone.com/photopost/data/1212/medium/Prego054.jpg

Pasta Station - Took only a bit to try so can't tell how good they are as eating carbohydrates is a no no in buffet because they fills you up fast. But those Caucasian love them so much.

http://forums.vr-zone.com/photopost/data/1212/medium/Prego055.jpg

Calamari with Tartar & Chilled Tomato Sauces - Was told this was good but I felt they were normal in taste, nothing fantastic. The squid rings were however not overdone so you can save some time on the chewing and more time to eat other foods.

Calamari - Served in small batches so it's always hot/warm.

http://forums.vr-zone.com/photopost/data/1212/medium/Prego057.jpg

Pizza - Tried two slices of the pizza and they were quite tasty with just simple toppings. Still, I would preferred it to have a thinner crust.

Pizza fresh from the oven. We are so used to having tons of toppings for the pizza, a simple no frills fare like these can just be as good.

Porchetta "Suckling Pig" with Mostarda - Little piggy was shy and hiding behind the counter. :D/> Was looking forward to it but alas it had to be with stuffing. My dining companion took all the four legs I think.

Prime Ribs - A huge juicy piece of ribs waiting to be carved. The cuts toward the center fared much better as it still pink and moist while the outer portion was too well done.

Took one of the suckling pig's leg from my dining companion's plate to try. Cracking crispy skin and tender moist meat inside.

Salad Bar on Wheels - They pushed this cart to each table asking if you want to have a go at the salad which had a tangy dressing, bacon bits, croutons, cheese flakes and a piece or two of pickled herring.
